looks like a film already seen. When, for example, we have witnessed the birth of that little mouse called the law "empty the prisons." The waltz, redundant, press releases, statements and good intentions. To the hype: that great racket, accompanying the launch, often masks the real usefulness of measures announced as salvation. The slogan "No more children in prison" for months flew from mouth to mouth, a microphone in the microphone, between government and opposition. The objective, common and noble, was to end the detention of innocent children to follow their mothers. A craze that still sees more than fifty children spend their days behind bars, away from the games and all those experiences that should not only accompany, but foster growth. Current legislation spared jail only to those women with children under the age of three years. The bill passed the House in recent days and awaiting the final go-ahead by the Senate, rising up to six years, this age limit. One change, however, risks becoming a double edged sword. The text, in fact, does not solve the problem of mothers held a number of relapses, awaiting trial or convicted in a final, perhaps drug-related crimes and prostitution. In all probability their children will be detained in prisons, because the danger of flight or re-offending does not allow this type of remand prisoners to serve their sentence in an institution or in custody attenuated (the ICAM). In their case, thus raising the roof at six years of age could lead to both the increase of children forced into the cell, the duration of their stay. A real paradox. Moreover, even with all the requirements up to 2014 can be accessed only with the alternative measures within the limits of available places: a limit rather restrictive, since ICAM when there is only one in Milan and there are no resources to allocate new ones. The text was adopted unanimously, with the exception of the Radicals who, although they were among the first to promote a law to protect the relationship between imprisoned mothers and children, have moved away because of insufficient funding. The satisfaction is to spread the new-found political unity on such a sensitive issue. And the air you breathe before the vote in the Senate is of great optimism. Euphoria but, if this text becomes law, is intended to break the wall of the figures. What they do not discount anyone, especially to those who want to do the wedding with dried figs and with the sound of commercials.
